Teaching

I about to start teaching on two modules of the Education BA at Leeds Beckett University, which are due to commence in February 2015. In 2013/14 I taught graduate and postgraduate modules for the Bradford Film School on Film History and Research Methodology.

My teaching experience includes subjects such as English as a foreign language at Language Schools as well as German, French, English, Media and Film Studies from Year 7 to Year 13 in state schools and academies. I have worked at a great variety of education centres in Cambridgeshire, London, Hampshire and Devon. Recently, I have mostly been involved in teaching Media at A-Level and BTEC Level two and three.

In addition to my 'normal' teaching experience. I also worked as a Student and Language Ambassador for AimHigher whilst doing my undergraduate degree and supervised workshops on and off campus. I also contributed to the scheme by working as a Night Mentor coordinator in several 'Easter Schools' and helped children make their own language short films as part of the Student Associate Scheme.

My interest in education is based on the believe that everyone should have access to a creative and artistic upbringing which values the child as a whole. In 2009, I attended the Alternative Education Resource Organization conference in New York for the first time and was invited back in 2010 to present a workshop on Europen alternative education. As a teacher and outreach ambassador I passionately compaign for an increase in critical media eduction at all ages and for more democratic practice in schools.
